What are Virtual Private Networks? (vpn servers)

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) uses Internet technology to connect branches or offices in much the same way that your company PCs and printers are connected to each other. It creates a secure, reliable and affordable way of reaching staff and accessing information in real time.

VPNs are based on either an ADSL connection (ideal for smaller branches where bandwidth guarantees are less important); or an Access Point Name (APN) connection that uses the GSM mobile network; or the Multi-Protocol Label Switching protocol (MPLS) for real-time bandwidth management at a protocol level.

Multi VPN: For larger companies that require bandwidth guarantees, a VPN based on MPLS provides for real-time bandwidth management at a protocol level. It allows a business to converge existing disparate networks into a single, end-to-end infrastructure that can support combined data, voice, and video services. Added features include centralised Internet access and the option of hosting your server in the MWEB Business Data Centre. For smaller branches where bandwidth guarantees are less important, Multi VPN allows you to use ADSL or other broadband connectivity to connect to the Virtual Private Network.

Why choose Virtual Private Network? (business broadband vpn)

A VPN gives your business all the benefits of a private network, but without the prohibitive costs and without having to manage, maintain or upgrade it yourself. It gives staff access to centralised services like intranets, extranets, email, Internet browsing, enterprise resource planning, customer relationship and accounting systems. It also allows you to take advantage of Voice over Internet Protocol products, by bypassing the public telephone network and channeling calls over your VPN, usually at a substantially lower cost.

The biggest advantage of MPLS-based VPNs, as opposed to other large network environments, is their scalability. They are virtually unlimited as to the number of sites they can reach, making it quick and easy to deploy many value added services.

MWEB Business provides all the technical infrastructure, connectivity, network management and support.
